On 6-7 July, JCJCR co-sponsor a two-day conference in Galilee in collaboration with the Al-Liqa center for Christian-Muslim encounter directed by Dr. Gireis Khoury. The conference focused on “Dilemmas of Identity Formation in Galilee Today—Jewish and Christian Aspects,” and its format  included lectures in plenary sessions, panel discussions and small group workshops. Participants were drawn mainly from among Arab Christians and Israeli Jews who are associated with the two sponsoring organizations or who have participated in their respective programs, such as various JCJCR encounter groups in Galilee and the courses on the Christian communities which JCJCR has conducted for Jewish teachers in the north. The conference was designed to foster greater understanding and empathy between Jews and Arab Christians in Galilee. One of the highlights of the conference was an evening of Byzantine and Eastern Jewish liturgical music.
