JCJCR is currently preparing a 40-page study booklet in Arabic on “The Jewish Holidays” for use in Christian schools and parish education programs in the Holy Land. Christian clergy and educators involved in the programs of JCJCR have indicated that such materials are sorely lacking and that the production of this booklet could serve as a vehicle for enhancing understanding and more harmonious relations between the Arab Christian and Jewish populations of the Holy Land. Dr. Debbie Weissman, a veteran Jewish educator who is active in various interfaith frameworks and forums in Jerusalem, has prepared a text that discusses the Jewish calendar and surveys the major Jewish holidays, with emphasis on special features of the traditional holidays as celebrated in Israel.
