Women Leading Equality

JCJCR runs a number of women’s dialogue groups each year in different places around the country – the north, the center and Jerusalem. During the first year of activity the groups discuss different topics, so that the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze women can get to know each other better, both as individuals and as members of different faith, cultural and national communities. The groups often meet in different places, so that they can experience the different communities where the group members live and lead their lives. In the second year of activity, the group members choose and implement a project together, designed to spread what they have learned to a wider audience. One such example is the Jerusalem group, who organize a weekly walk along the Train Track path in Jerusalem, inviting friends to join them, and spreading a message of openness and tolerance in Jerusalem, even in the most difficult of times. The Jaffa group invited women from Jaffa to participate in dialogue circles in the midst of the war in Gaza in the summer of 2014, giving Jewish and Arab women in the mixed city the opportunity to share and understand each other's feelings. In the summer of 2015 they conducted a tour of Jaffa for students from the Jaffa college, during which they introduced the students to some of the complexities of their city. All the groups are facilitated by professional facilitators.

In 2014-15 there are two groups in the Galilee facilitated by Dr Zahava Neuberger, an Orthodox educator and mediator; and two groups in Jaffa facilitated by Cami Mizrahi and Vivian Rabia.
