The Israel Jewish Council for Interreligious Relations (IJCIR) serves as the Israeli constituent of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC), the body recognized by, among others, the Vatican, World Council of Churches, and the Orthodox Churches for consultations and dialogue on Jewish-Christian matters. Representatives of IJCIR regularly participate in international meetings and report back to the members of IJCIR on developments in the international interfaith scene, especially as affecting Israel. The organization periodically sponsors seminars and public symposia in Israel on developments in international interreligious affairs as they affect the Jewish community and Israel. IJCIR plans to draw together representatives of a broad spectrum of different sectors in Israeli-Jewish society with the goal of discussing and developing a specifically Israel-Jewish position on interfaith contacts and relations, both locally and abroad.
